Dirty Shirley Popsicle Cocktail

When I was a kid, I absolutely lived for a Shirley Temple (the drink, not the little girl). There was nothing more exciting than going to a restaurant and getting a Shirley Temple with a bright, syrupy cherry on top. So when I heard that the Dirty Shirley was the drink of summer 2022, I had to get in on the fun. My version is the ultimate homage to the joys of childhood. Mostly because it includes a popsicle. I kept it super low key and accessible. The ingredients are all easy to come by, and the popsicles are store bought. If you’re looking for a nostalgic drink that’s perfect for a hot summer day, I think you’ll love this.

What’s a Dirty Shirley?

The Dirty Shirley is basically the adult (read: boozy) version of a Shirley Temple. It’s mostly lemon lime soda, with a splash of grenadine syrup, some vodka, and a maraschino cocktail cherry. This version also includes a lime flavored popsicle! It adds a nice little lime boost and ups the refreshing factor by like a thousand.

A note on ingredients:

Don’t get too hung up on brands for this recipe! Your favorite vodka will do just fine (though I used Kirkland). Same goes for the lemon lime soda and the popsicle. All that said, I used Sprite for my soda and Outshine for my popsicle. I add these details because unlike produce, these ingredients have their own formulas and may have slight differences in taste. But if it’s a brand that you like, I’m sure you’ll like it in this!
