Grapefruit and Orange Blossom Aperol Spritz

Jump to Recipe

Summer is here! Ok, maybe not technically. But schools are out and Memorial Day has come and gone, so I think we’re very much in summer territory. Also in that territory, is the beloved Aperol Spritz! That’s right, folks, it’s spritz season. Though this drink has been around for ages, I’ve seen it gaining popularity lately, so I decided to create a version of my own. It’s a real flavor sensation. Sweet, bitter, floral and bright. If you’re into fruity drinks, especially ones that involve citrus, I think you’ll love it.

First, a quick vid.

Umm what’s an Aperol Spritz?

For those who don’t know, an Aperol Spritz is a version of the Spritz Veneziano (which originated in the 1800s). It consists of Aperol (which is an Italian bitter apéritif), prosecco, club soda, and an orange slice. It’s super easy to throw together, and such a delightful and refreshing drink to sip during hot summer months.

What ingredients do I need for this version?

My version is a little bit different in that I’ve nixed the club soda and replaced it with fresh grapefruit juice. I also added a little bit of orange blossom water, which gives the drink a nice floral bouquet. Don’t worry, though. It still has Aperol and prosecco, which are arguably the most important elements of this drink. To top it all off, each drink has a slice of grapefruit in it. Because who doesn’t love a drink with a built in snack?
