Quarantiki Cocktail

Quarantiki Cocktail

By now, we’ve all heard of the quarantini. While I think there may be an actual drink to go along with it, people are using the term to describe any cocktail that they cobble together while under quarantine. I wanted in on the fun. But… since I can’t drink right now, I had to make my husband, Ben (who shares my love for cooking), create a cocktail recipe for me. The drink that he came up with is a perfect blend of spiced, sour and sweet. It doesn’t require much in the way of ingredients, and is wonderfully refreshing. He also noted that it’s reminiscent of a tiki drink, hence the title.

Now, if you have access to a decent collection of booze, this should be quite simple to throw together! It consists of reposado tequila, lime juice, velvet falernum, and bitters. Side note, though. While Ben used reposado tequila, he also tried making this with mezcal, which also worked nicely. He guesses that any tequila would do the trick here. So don’t fret if you don’t have any reposado lying around.

Apart from that, all you’ll need is some ice (preferably crushed) and a lime wedge to transport yourself somewhere a little more tropical for a brief moment.

Quarantiki Cocktail

Servings 1 drink

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Velvet Falernum (not as hard to come by as you might think)
  • 1 oz Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Crushed ice
  • Lime wedge (to garnish)

Instructions

  • Combine all the liquid ingredients in a glass over crushed ice and stir.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge, and enjoy!

And that’s it! A ridiculously easy quarantine cocktail with tiki vibes. If you’re anything like Ben, you’ll love this drink. Seriously – at least once every couple of days he walks over and says “remember when I made up that incredible cocktail?!” Moments later he’s inevitably made himself one. So yeah, I hope you love it on that level.

If you give it a try, let me know how you like it in the comments or on Instagram!
